Nolato, a key player in specialized polymer products, just reported a robust second quarter for 2026, demonstrating organic growth across both its Medical Solutions and Engineered Solutions divisions. This performance, marked by a 4% currency-adjusted rise in consolidated sales to SEK 2,454 million, comes despite a challenging global business environment and escalating oil prices.
The Medical Solutions segment saw sales climb to SEK 1,388 million, fueled by increased volumes in Drug Delivery and a strong uptick in In vitro diagnostics (IVD). Meanwhile, Engineered Solutions posted SEK 1,070 million in sales, driven by significant demand in Consumer Electronics, particularly for smart home and audio products. The company’s Materials activity also surged by 19%, largely due to high volumes supporting critical sectors like data centers, satellites, and the aerospace and defense industries.
For the first half of 2026, group sales hit SEK 4,811 million (3% currency-adjusted growth), with an operating profit (EBITA) of SEK 507 million. CEO Christer Wahlquist acknowledged the headwinds, including the negative impact of rising oil prices on raw material costs, but underscored the firm’s proactive innovation and efficiency initiatives.
A significant strategic move was the commencement of commercial deliveries for a major customer project in Hungary. This marks a crucial expansion, with plans for gradual capacity increases, positioning Nolato for future revenue streams and market penetration in a key European region. The ability to launch such a project amidst cost pressures speaks to the company’s operational resilience and strategic foresight.
Maintaining a strong financial position, as highlighted by Nolato, provides crucial flexibility. In an unpredictable economic landscape, this financial stability is a strategic asset, enabling potential investments, R&D, and buffering against unforeseen market shifts, while competitors might struggle with tighter liquidity.
Nolato’s Q2 results suggest a company effectively navigating complex market dynamics by focusing on high-growth areas and strategic projects. The continued expansion in medical and advanced electronics, coupled with a solid financial footing, indicates a prepared stance for both immediate challenges and long-term growth opportunities, particularly as the Hungary project scales up.
