Iron ore handling plant under construction, Chhattisgarh, India
Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Minerals & Metals (M&M) business has cemented its leadership in India’s industrial landscape, securing multiple ‘mega’ orders valued between Rs 10,000 crore and Rs 15,000 crore. These significant contracts, awarded by leading domestic metals and mining companies, underscore a robust push towards enhancing the nation’s core industrial infrastructure.
Among the key wins, L&T will develop an 18 MTPA Iron Ore Handling Plant for India’s largest public sector iron ore producer in Chhattisgarh. This project is a crucial component of the producer’s ambitious plan to achieve 100 MTPA capacity by 2030, involving comprehensive design, engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of systems including a downhill conveyor and a Rapid Wagon Loading System.
Further bolstering its portfolio, L&T also secured a Design & Build and Balance of Plant package for a public sector Navratna company in West Bengal. This contract aims to expand the steel plant’s capacity from 2.5 MTPA to an impressive 7.1 MTPA. Additionally, a major private sector metals producer has entrusted L&T with an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) order for a new zinc processing plant, covering all phases from design to commissioning.
S. N. Subrahmanyan, Chairman & Managing Director, and T. Kumaresan, Senior Vice President & Head Utilities & Metals, both highlighted L&T’s proven expertise in the minerals and metals EPC sector. These orders not only reaffirm customer trust in L&T’s ability to execute complex projects but also signify the company’s commitment to partnering in India’s economic growth through world-class industrial infrastructure development. While the company’s consolidated net profit saw a 3.12% decline in Q4 FY26, its revenue grew by 11.25%, with the stock rising 0.31% on the BSE, reflecting investor confidence in its strategic project wins.
