L&T’s Metals & Minerals Business Secures Landmark ‘Mega’ Contracts Across India
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has significantly bolstered its order book, announcing multiple ‘Mega’ category contracts for its Metals & Minerals (M&M) business vertical. These substantial engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) orders, each valued between ₹10,000 crore and ₹15,000 crore, underscore L&T’s dominant position in India’s industrial infrastructure landscape.
The strategic wins highlight robust demand within the country’s core sectors. Among the notable projects is a contract from India’s largest iron ore producer for an 18 MTPA Iron Ore Handling Plant in Chhattisgarh. This comprehensive package includes the design, engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of a crucial downhill conveyor system, screening plant, stockpile, yard equipment, and a Rapid Wagon Loading System (RWLS).
Further expanding its footprint, L&T has also secured Design & Build and Balance of Plant packages for a major steel plant expansion in West Bengal. This project aims to boost the plant’s capacity from 2.5 MTPA to an impressive 7.1 MTPA for a public sector Navratna company, signaling significant growth in the steel sector.
Diversifying its portfolio, the company clinched an EPC order for a Zinc Processing Plant from a leading private sector metals producer. This contract encompasses the entire lifecycle from design and engineering to procurement, installation, commissioning, and associated site services, demonstrating L&T’s versatile expertise in non-ferrous metallurgical projects.
These successive ‘Mega’ contracts not only reinforce L&T’s robust capabilities in executing large-scale, complex projects across the metals and minerals value chain but also reflect a positive outlook for industrial development and investment in India.
