Harley-Davidson is initiating a recall for nearly 90,000 motorcycles, specifically 88,039 units, due to a defect that could lead to oil ejection and potential injury. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that the affected models include certain 2024–2026 FLTRX and FLHX, 2025–2026 FXBR and FLFB, and other select bikes equipped with airbox baseplate, part number 29000373.
The issue lies with a breather port that may become blocked, causing pressure to build within the crankcase. If the dipstick is removed while the crankcase is pressurized, oil could be expelled from the fill spout, presenting a safety hazard.
Harley-Davidson dealerships will address this issue by inspecting the breather ports and performing any necessary repairs free of charge. Owners can expect to receive notification letters regarding the recall by May 11. For further inquiries, motorcycle owners can contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464.
This recall follows a separate one announced last month, which involved nearly 17,000 motorcycles due to a potential brake failure issue that could increase crash risks. That recall encompassed certain Harley-Davidson FXLRS, FXLRST, FXBB, and FLHC models manufactured between October 2024 and March 2026.
