Dilapidated port infrastructure with shipping containers and collapsed cranes under overcast skies.
Larry Kudlow, writing for Fox Business, is urging a halt to the “hand-wringing” surrounding President Trump’s diplomatic efforts with Iran. He contends that recent military actions have significantly weakened Iran, creating an opportune moment for negotiation. Kudlow asserts that allied forces have effectively “decapitated the Iranian leadership,” destroyed their nuclear capabilities, enriched uranium, navy, airforce, radar, missiles, and industrial base, leading to severe economic hardship within the country.
Kudlow cites reports of societal changes in Iran, such as women appearing without hijabs, as indicators of the regime’s internal crumbling, attributing this shift to Trump’s assertive policies. He emphasizes that Trump is the first president in 50 years to take forceful and successful action against Iran, leaving its military and nuclear capabilities decimated.
This strategic weakening, according to Kudlow, provides Trump with an opening for diplomacy. He suggests a temporary suspension of the naval blockade to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and lower oil prices, a move he deems a “risk worth taking” with minimal downside. Kudlow stresses that any financial aid to Iran would be contingent on a verifiable end to their nuclear program, with inspectors on the ground. Any funds released would be held in escrow by the U.S. Treasury and used solely for humanitarian aid like food and medicine, purchased from American farmers.
Describing this as a “Trumpian approach,” Kudlow highlights the president’s commitment to ending Iran’s nuclear capacity through verification and inspection. He warns that if Iran fails to comply, the U.S. would revert to military action and economic embargoes. Kudlow concludes by encouraging support for Trump’s diplomatic strategy, believing he can secure a favorable deal for America.
