The India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) has officially come into force, promising significant benefits for Indian exporters. According to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, the agreement grants duty-free access to 99.38% of Indian exports to Oman.
The CEPA encompasses various aspects of economic cooperation, including trade in goods and services, professional mobility, regulatory cooperation, non-tariff barrier safeguards, and investment facilitation. This comprehensive approach aims to deepen economic ties and foster greater collaboration between the two nations.
“This agreement is a significant step towards enhancing our trade relations with Oman,” stated Goyal. “The duty-free access will provide a competitive edge to Indian exporters and facilitate increased trade flows.”
The CEPA is expected to boost trade and investment between India and Oman, creating new opportunities for businesses in both countries. By reducing trade barriers and streamlining regulatory processes, the agreement aims to unlock the full potential of the bilateral economic partnership.
As the agreement enters into force, businesses on both sides are eager to capitalize on the new opportunities and strengthen their presence in each other’s markets. The India-Oman CEPA represents a significant milestone in the economic relationship between the two countries, paving the way for enhanced cooperation and mutual prosperity.
