On July 11, a large group of these merchants gathered at the Witbank SAPS station, expressing profound fears for their safety. Ajmal Attique, speaking on behalf of the affected business community, confirmed that at least four shop owners have been compelled to close their establishments and remove their inventory due to explicit threats of looting. Attique highlighted a disturbing trend of increased incidents within townships, leading to business owners fleeing their ventures empty-handed.
