A bag of dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets with a "DO NOT EAT" warning due to lead contamination.
A public health alert has been issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) for Great Value Fully Cooked Dino Shaped Chicken Breast Nuggets sold at Walmart, due to potential lead contamination.
The alert, issued on Wednesday, pertains to 29-ounce bags with a “Best If Used By” date of Feb. 10, 2027, lot code 0416DPO1215, and establishment number P44164.
While the product is no longer available in stores, officials are concerned that affected packages may still be in consumers’ freezers. The issue was discovered during routine testing, prompting an ongoing investigation.
Health experts caution that lead exposure is particularly dangerous for young children and pregnant women. FSIS noted that lead levels found in the nuggets could be up to five times higher than the FDA’s interim reference level for children, emphasizing that “there is no safe amount of lead exposure.”
Consumers who have purchased the product are urged to discard it or return it to the place of purchase.
