Dubai-based Emirates is planning a major upgrade to its first-class experience, potentially introducing private bathrooms directly inside individual suites. Emirates President Tim Clark mentioned the plans at the 2026 Capa Airline Leader Summit in Berlin, signaling a move to prevent the airline’s offerings from becoming stale.
The airline currently offers first-class cabins on its Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft. The Airbus A380 features private suites with sliding doors, shared shower spas, and an onboard lounge and bar. The Boeing 777 includes fully enclosed, floor-to-ceiling suites with advanced entertainment, but lacks shower spas.
This move comes as airlines across the industry ramp up investment in high-end travel to attract premium customers. It also occurs as airlines worldwide adjust operations due to surging jet fuel costs and increased volatility in the energy market since the Iran war began.
