The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) is actively seeking innovative regenerative medicine companies to participate in its Japan Entry Acceleration Program (JEAP) 2026. This initiative is designed to provide a strategic launchpad for companies aiming to establish and expand their presence within Japan’s burgeoning healthcare sector.
Running from November 1, 2026, to February 20, 2027, the program will offer selected participants comprehensive support. This includes tailored mentorship, deep dives into market analysis, and crucial direct connections with leading Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations (CDMOs), Contract Research Organizations (CROs), and major pharmaceutical companies operating in Japan. The Forum for Innovative Regenerative Medicine (FIRM) is a key supporter, ensuring robust assistance for market entry and fostering vital collaborations.
Applications for JEAP 2026 are open from July 1 to October 16, 2026. An initial review phase will occur for applications submitted by August 16. The program itself will feature expert-led online workshops covering Japan’s market landscape, regulatory pathways, reimbursement systems, R&D strategies, and business development. Participants will also benefit from one-on-one mentoring sessions.
Hybrid business networking opportunities will connect companies with key stakeholders in Japan’s healthcare ecosystem, including Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), research institutions, the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), and various corporate entities. A significant component of the program is an in-person site visit and Demo Day, scheduled for mid-February 2027 in Tokyo and Osaka. This event will provide a platform for selected companies to pitch their innovations to potential investors and partners.
Participation in the JEAP 2026 is free of charge. JETRO will cover one round-trip economy class airfare and accommodation expenses for the duration of the official Site Visit and Demo Day for selected participants. Eligibility criteria include a focus on regenerative medicine, cell therapy, gene therapy, tissue engineering, or Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs), the identification of clinical development candidates, and a clear interest in expanding into the Japanese market.
