Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has strongly defended the Punjab government against recent allegations of a paper leak, asserting that the claims are baseless and an attempt to discredit the state’s significant educational advancements.
Kejriwal highlighted his party’s track record, stating that no paper leaks have occurred in Delhi during their 10 years in power, nor in Punjab over the past five years. He contrasted this with BJP-ruled states, where, he claimed, such incidents are common. This defense comes amidst heightened scrutiny over examination integrity nationwide.
Addressing the specific incident in Punjab, Kejriwal clarified that the issue involved “10-12 students” attempting to cheat using “smart pens” in two examination centers. These students were caught in the act while trying to scan and send out paper photos to receive answers externally. He emphasized that no actual paper leak occurred, as the attempts were immediately intercepted.
Kejriwal framed the allegations as a deliberate campaign to tarnish the Punjab government’s achievements in education. He pointed out that Punjab, which ranked 27th nationally in education before the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came to power in 2022, has since climbed to the number one position, surpassing Kerala. This rapid improvement, he suggested, is what rivals are attempting to undermine with “false accusations.” The incident underscores the ongoing political battle over governance standards and public perception, particularly concerning education and transparency.
