Recalled GOPO teething toy on a kitchen table, scissors nearby, children's high chair in background.
A popular teething toy, the GOPO TOYS Pull String Teething Toys, has been recalled due to a serious choking hazard for children. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued the recall, affecting over 70,000 units sold on Amazon.
The CPSC stated that the toy violates mandatory safety standards because its silicone strings are too small and too long. This design allows the strings to reach the back of a child’s throat, posing a risk of respiratory distress and a deadly choking hazard. At least three children have reportedly experienced their throats being obstructed by the toy’s strings, leading to choking or respiratory distress.
Consumers are urged to immediately stop children from using the toy. GOPO Toys is offering a full refund. To receive the refund, customers must destroy the toy by cutting all silicone strings and writing “DESTROYED” on the product with a permanent marker. A photo of the destroyed toy should then be sent to recalls@gopotoys.com.
The recalled teething toys were sold on Amazon between August 2023 and March 2026. The products were distributed from San Bernardino, California, and manufactured in China.
This is not the first toy recall of its kind recently. Earlier in the month, approximately 40,000 reusable baby bottles sold at Walmart were recalled due to a potential choking hazard. In January, the CPSC also recalled another teething toy, the Yetonamr pull-string teething toy, which had a similar design and posed a fatal choking risk after numerous incidents.
