Hyundai is recalling approximately 96,310 Tucson vehicles from the 2025 and 2026 model years due to a software issue that could lead to a blank instrument panel display while driving. This recall, announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), addresses concerns that the loss of critical information like speed and fuel level could increase the risk of a crash.
The affected vehicles include standard gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains. According to recall documents, the instrument panel display may intermittently reboot during operation, potentially leaving drivers without essential safety data. As of June 2026, NHTSA reported no confirmed crashes, fires, or injuries in the U.S. linked to this defect, estimating that about 1% of the recalled vehicles are affected.
To resolve the issue, Hyundai will provide free software updates. These updates can be performed by dealerships or, for eligible vehicles equipped with Hyundai’s Bluelink system, through over-the-air (OTA) transmission. The company will also reimburse owners for any prior out-of-pocket expenses incurred to fix this problem.
Owners can expect formal notification letters to be mailed starting August 22, 2026. To check if their vehicle is part of the recall, owners can use their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA website.
