Trader Joe's frozen food recall due to glass concerns.
Trader Joe’s is recalling nearly 10 million pounds of its frozen vegetable fried rice due to the presence of small glass shards, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service. The recall impacts products sold in 43 states.
Ajinomoto Foods North America Inc., the supplier, initiated the recall after discovering glass fragments ranging from one to three cm long and two to four mm wide in the fried rice. The affected products have best-buy dates from February 28, 2026, to November 19, 2026.
This recall is an expansion of an earlier alert issued last month and expanded earlier this month. The total recall effort now includes nearly 37 million pounds of ready-to-eat items across more than a dozen brands, including Kroger and Tai Pei, in addition to Trader Joe’s.
The recalled Trader Joe’s items include Vegetable Fried Rice, Chicken Shu Mai, and Chicken Fried Rice. The USDA has classified this as a Class II recall, indicating a potential for temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.
Customers who have purchased the recalled fried rice are advised not to consume it. They should either dispose of the product or return it to Trader Joe’s for a full refund.
While no injuries have been reported, the USDA recommends that anyone concerned about potential injuries should contact a healthcare provider.
