JSW Energy has announced the appointment of Sanjay Kumar as Senior Vice President – Solar, a significant move signaling the company’s accelerated commitment to India’s clean energy transition. Kumar brings over 25 years of extensive experience in the power and renewable energy sectors, encompassing project development, execution, engineering, and large-scale infrastructure management.
In his new capacity, Kumar will be instrumental in providing strategic leadership for JSW Energy’s solar business. His primary focus will be on the development and execution of large-scale solar projects, crucial for expanding the company’s renewable energy footprint across India. This appointment underscores JSW Energy’s strategic pivot towards bolstering its green energy portfolio amidst growing national demand for sustainable power solutions.
Before joining JSW Energy, Kumar held leadership roles at several prominent energy firms. He served as Vice President – Project Development & Execution at Sembcorp Industries Ltd, overseeing renewable energy initiatives. His nearly decade-long tenure at Adani Green Energy Ltd as Assistant Vice President – Projects saw him play a critical role in the implementation and execution of various renewable energy ventures. Earlier in his career, he contributed to major thermal power projects at Jindal Power Limited and began his professional journey at Tata Power Company Limited, managing operational activities for large-scale power generation units.
Kumar’s diverse background across both conventional and renewable energy sectors positions him as a key asset for JSW Energy. His expertise is expected to significantly contribute to the company’s ambitious growth targets and its strategic renewable energy roadmap, particularly as JSW Energy ramps up investments in the sector to meet its long-term clean energy goals.
