A KitKat spokesperson humorously acknowledged the situation, stating, “We’ve always encouraged people to have a break with KITKAT — but it seems thieves have taken the message too literally.” However, the spokesperson also highlighted the seriousness of cargo theft, noting its increasing prevalence and sophistication.
While Nestlé assures that there is no safety risk associated with the stolen product, they caution that the missing KitKat bars may surface on unofficial sales channels throughout Europe. The company has implemented a tracking system using unique batch codes, urging anyone who encounters the stolen bars to contact them.
The incident is not expected to impact KitKat supply or cause shortages leading up to Easter. Nestlé is taking the necessary steps to address the theft and prevent future occurrences.
