Qatar Gears Up for FIFA U-17 World Cup 2025 with ‘Bouma’ Mascot
The Local Organizing Committee for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 and FIFA have jointly announced the official mascot for the tournament: ‘Bouma’. This unique character draws inspiration from the legendary Serbian coach, Velibor Bora Milutinović, the only football coach to have participated in five consecutive World Cups with five different national teams.
‘Bouma’: A Symbol of Wisdom and Vision
The mascot’s name, derived from the Arabic word for owl, symbolizes wisdom, keen vision, and precise guidance. This playful reference pays tribute to Milutinović’s career, as a coach and talent scout, and his significant impact on the development of football in Qatar and around the world. As Qatar prepares to host the U-17 World Cup 2025, a platform for emerging football talents, ‘Bouma’ embodies Milutinović’s pivotal role as a prominent talent scout. He possessed a unique ability to discover and nurture potential, assisting young players in competing at the highest levels of global football.
In a statement, Milutinović spoke about his passion for nurturing the next generation of football players and the importance of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 in celebrating and highlighting the stars of tomorrow. He emphasized the joy of discovering young talent and encouraging players to believe in their dreams of reaching the senior national team.
A Tournament of Firsts and Celebrations
The FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 marks a significant milestone, being the first edition to feature 48 teams, a first in World Cup history, underscoring the tournament’s growing importance. Milutinović highlighted that while goals determine the winner in matches, the U-17 level often relies on talent, inspiration, and high morale. He hopes that all players enjoy this edition, as it is crucial for their personal and athletic growth.
Matches will be held at Aspire Zone’s competition complex, Qatar’s and the region’s sports excellence center. The final will take place at the Khalifa International Stadium on November 27 at 7 PM Doha time. Tickets are available via the website www.roadtoqatar.qa, with various daily categories and options for attending multiple matches. Special tickets are available for the most popular matches, and tickets for the Qatari national team’s matches are also available.
