The event was attended by members of the QBF board of directors, coaches, and parents of the players.
A Foundation for Future Success
The Al-Baraem Festival is a cornerstone of the QBF’s strategy to develop basketball. The primary aim is to discover and hone the skills of promising young talents in the early age groups. This initiative is part of a long-term plan to build a strong base of players capable of representing national teams in the future, thereby enhancing the status of Qatari basketball on both regional and Asian levels.
A Commitment to Youth Development
According to Ahmed Youssef Al-Darwish, Assistant Secretary and Head of the Competitions Committee at the QBF, the current season’s Al-Baraem Festival marks the first official gathering of players as the new 2025-2026 season commences. He emphasized the Federation’s strong commitment to developing the sport from its grassroots. Al-Darwish stated, “We believe in the importance of building a new generation of players who possess the skills and experience to compete with strong teams at the regional and continental levels.”
Future Plans and Programs
Al-Darwish added that the Federation, through this festival and its future plans, seeks to introduce continuous training programs and activities targeting promising talents. The goal is to refine their skills and enhance their technical and mental aspects. He highlighted, “We have a clear vision and a long-term plan to build a bright future for Qatari basketball.”
Competitive Activities and Expert Guidance
The festival featured competitive events and competitions overseen by the Federation’s technical committee, with the involvement of specialized coaches in the age groups. This approach aimed to create an educational environment that combines enjoyment with technical and physical development, thereby enhancing the players’ ability to acquire essential skills in their early stages. The QBF is committed to continuously developing its technical and educational programs, which are based on establishing players on the foundations of skill, tactical intelligence, and discipline on the court, within a comprehensive strategy aimed at raising the level of Qatari basketball and sustaining its future successes.
