Arab Cup 2024: Qatar Gears Up to Host Football’s Finest
The anticipation is building across the Arab world as Qatar prepares to host the Arab Cup, the region’s premier football tournament. With just 30 days remaining, the stage is set for an exciting competition from December 1 to 18.
A Tournament of Champions
This marks the second time Qatar will host the prestigious tournament, following the successful 2021 edition, which was held under the umbrella of FIFA (الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم). Sixteen national teams will compete for the coveted title, with the stakes higher than ever.
This year’s regional tournament boasts record financial rewards, exceeding $36.5 million (approximately 132.9 million Qatari Riyals), further solidifying its status among the world’s major championships. The tournament will feature nine of the highest-ranked teams from FIFA, who have automatically qualified, while 14 teams will compete for the remaining seven spots through a series of qualifying matches.
The Quest for Glory
Algeria, the defending champion, will aim to retain their title. Meanwhile, the Qatar national team, representing the host country, has its sights set on lifting the trophy for the first time. The competition promises thrilling matches and fierce rivalries as teams battle for supremacy.
Tickets and Fan Experience
Tickets went on sale on September 30, and fans from across the region are preparing to support their national teams and other participating teams. Tickets have seen high demand from fans of Qatar, Jordan, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
Tickets are available starting from 25 Qatari Riyals. Fans can purchase a ‘Support Your Team’ ticket, which allows access to all matches of their favorite teams during the group stage. All tickets are available digitally and include options for dedicated seating for fans with disabilities.
Convenient Access and Entertainment
As Qatar continues its preparations to welcome fans from around the world, visitors can choose travel packages at special prices from Qatar Airways, the national carrier of Qatar. The tournament will also feature a variety of cultural and entertainment activities throughout the country.
Fans will enjoy a convenient transportation experience, with easy access to all stadiums via a modern public transportation network. The first match will kick off on December 1 at 7:30 PM at the Al Bayt Stadium, featuring Qatar against the winner of the Palestine vs. Libya match. The final match will take place on December 18 at 7 PM at the iconic Lusail Stadium. The stadiums hosting the matches include the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium, Education City Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, and Stadium 974.
