Lebanon’s Interior Minister Meets Jordanian, Bahraini Officials at Manama Forum
On Saturday, Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmad Al-Hajar met with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi on the sidelines of the Manama Dialogue Forum in Bahrain. The meeting focused on bilateral relations between Lebanon and Jordan, emphasizing the strong fraternal ties between the two countries and peoples. They also discussed the need to enhance cooperation across various fields, especially concerning issues facing both nations amid regional challenges.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties and Addressing Regional Challenges
During the meeting, Al-Hajar acknowledged Jordan’s supportive stances toward Lebanon. He expressed hope that the international community would pressure Israel to fulfill its commitments by ceasing hostilities and providing humanitarian aid and reconstruction support to Lebanon. Safadi reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to Lebanon’s stability and its support in overcoming crises and challenges.
On Friday, Al-Hajar also met with his Bahraini counterpart, Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, on the sidelines of the same forum. This meeting served as an opportunity to reinforce the deep fraternal and historical relations between Lebanon and Bahrain and their mutual interest in strengthening these relations across various fields, particularly in security.
Focus on Cooperation and Security
Discussions between Al-Hajar and Sheikh Rashid also covered ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, exchange expertise, and coordinate between the security agencies of both countries to address shared challenges. The meetings underscore the importance of international cooperation in addressing the complex issues facing Lebanon and the broader region.
During a panel discussion at the Manama Dialogue Forum, Al-Hajar emphasized Lebanon’s commitment to maintaining state authority over its entire territory through its own capabilities. He highlighted the pivotal role of the Lebanese army in this regard, supported by the Lebanese government in implementing its plans. He also noted that the ceasefire arrangements had not been respected by the Israeli side.
These discussions, held within the framework of the Manama Dialogue Forum, reflect a concerted effort to strengthen international relations and address critical regional issues through diplomatic channels and cooperative initiatives.
