Green hydrogen plant with electrolyzers and solar panels in Tamil Nadu, India.
U.S.-based Ohmium International is collaborating with InSolare Energy to construct a 4MW green hydrogen plant in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu. The project, aimed at serving state-owned NLC India Limited, anticipates an annual production of 700 tonnes of hydrogen. This initiative underscores the growing momentum behind green hydrogen as a viable energy source in India.
The plant will leverage India’s renewable energy capabilities to produce hydrogen, aligning with the nation’s broader push towards sustainable energy solutions. For InSolare, the partnership represents a strategic move into the burgeoning green hydrogen sector, diversifying its renewable energy portfolio.
For Ohmium, the project expands its global footprint and demonstrates the scalability of its green hydrogen technology. The company’s electrolyzer technology is expected to play a crucial role in the plant’s operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective hydrogen production.
NLC India Limited, the end-user of the produced hydrogen, can integrate green hydrogen into its operations, potentially reducing its carbon footprint and advancing its sustainability goals. The project serves as a model for other industrial entities looking to decarbonize their energy consumption.
Looking ahead, the success of this project could catalyze further investments in green hydrogen infrastructure across India. As the cost of renewable energy continues to decline and hydrogen technologies mature, green hydrogen is positioned to become an increasingly competitive energy carrier, driving the transition to a cleaner energy economy.
