Vivo X300: OriginOS Finally Goes Global with Flagship Launch
Vivo is making waves in the smartphone market, as the company is launching its flagship X300 and X300 Pro outside of China. This marks a significant move, as these are the first Vivo phones to run OriginOS outside of China. The announcement, made just two weeks after the initial launch in China, signals a rapid international expansion for the brand.
OriginOS: A New Era for Vivo
OriginOS, which debuted in China back in November 2020, has been updated to version 6.0. Previously, international buyers were stuck with Funtouch OS, which was often criticized for its drab design and bloatware. OriginOS brings a much-needed refresh with a more colorful and slick interface. This version boasts a customizable lockscreen with depth effects and widgets, along with a “Dynamic Glow” design. For those outside of China, this is a welcome upgrade.
Impressive Specs and Features
Both the X300 and X300 Pro boast impressive specifications. While the silicon-carbon batteries are large, with capacities of 6,040mAh and 6,510mAh, they lag slightly behind recent releases from competitors like Oppo and Xiaomi. However, the cameras are a major draw. The Pro model features a 200-megapixel telephoto camera, and both models are compatible with the 2.35x Zeiss telephoto extender that launched earlier this year with the X200 Ultra, potentially making them some of the best phones for photography on the market.
Availability and Pricing
In Europe, the Vivo X300 series will be available in Austria, Spain, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Italy. The X300 starts from €1,049 (around $1,200), with the Pro available for €1,399 (around $1,600). The launch is a testament to Vivo’s commitment to providing a better user experience globally, bringing OriginOS to a wider audience.
According to The Verge, the X300 series is launching internationally faster than expected, thanks to the decision to bring OriginOS to the rest of the world.
