Enhanced Visuals and New Gameplay Mechanics
The Switch 2 upgrade will bring 4K visuals when playing on TV, providing a crisper and more immersive experience for players. Nintendo is also introducing mouse controls, allowing for more precise interactions within the game. You’ll be able to use the mouse controls on the right Joy-Con 2 controller to decorate indoors, create custom designs, and write bulletin board messages. That’s not all; an in-game megaphone, leveraging the Switch 2’s built-in microphone, will enable players to locate villagers by calling their names.
Expanded Features and Content
The upgraded Animal Crossing: New Horizons will also support online gameplay with up to 12 other Switch 2 players, enhancing the social aspect of the game. Players will also be able to use a webcam, adding another layer of interaction. The enhanced title will cost $64.99, but for those who already own the game for the first-gen Switch, an upgrade pack will be available for just $4.99.
On the same day, January 15th, a free upgrade will be available for both Switch and Switch 2 players. This update includes access to a new resort hotel owned by Kapp’n’s family, promising fresh content and experiences. Players will also be able to interact with Resetti, who will offer a “reset service” to clean up the island. Additionally, the update features a home storage upgrade option that lets you keep up to 9,000 items, including trees, shrubs, and flowers. Furthermore, players can collect new Nintendo-themed items in-game. Switch Online subscribers can design and save up to three islands when playing with friends, and play select Nintendo titles in-game when interacting with Nintendo console items.
