Kudlow discusses military funding and Iran
Former Trump economic advisor Larry Kudlow is advocating for a reconciliation bill to ensure the U.S. military receives the $200 billion in funding requested by the Pentagon. Kudlow argues this is essential not only for completing the mission in Iran but also for maintaining a policy of peace through strength.
In a recent article on Fox Business, Kudlow expressed concerns that Democrats would attempt to block the crucial funding bill, using it for anti-war propaganda. He emphasized the importance of providing soldiers, sailors, and airmen with everything they need.
Kudlow referenced a chilling narrative from Steve Witkoff, special envoy to the Middle East, regarding Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Witkoff reported that Iranian officials claimed to possess 460 kilograms of 60 percent-enriched uranium, enough to create 11 nuclear bombs within a short timeframe.
According to Kudlow, Democrats might argue that Iran lacks a delivery system, but he counters that Iran could quickly deliver a nuclear bomb to neighboring Israel, allies in the Middle East, or even the underbelly of Europe. He also highlighted Iran’s use of shorter-range missiles against oil and gas-producing countries and its potential to blockade the Strait of Hormuz.
Given the expected Democratic opposition, Kudlow believes that a reconciliation bill, requiring only 50 votes plus the vice president in the Senate, is the only way to secure the necessary military spending. He noted that House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington have already begun preparing such a bill.
Kudlow suggests the reconciliation bill could include spending offsets, waste, fraud, and abuse cutbacks, entitlement reforms, and pro-growth tax reforms. He also proposes including the SAVE America voting rights bill in the reconciliation package to ensure national rules for proof of citizenship and photo ID cards are enforced.
He envisions the Department of Homeland Security as the appropriate election monitoring agency. Kudlow concludes by urging Congress to create a strong reconciliation package that will maintain military might and uphold proper voting laws to preserve American democracy.
