Grammarly Transforms: From Writing Aid to AI Productivity Powerhouse
In a significant move for the tech industry, the AI writing aid Grammarly is rebranding and expanding its scope. Now part of Superhuman, the company is integrating with tools like Coda and Superhuman Mail to offer a comprehensive AI-driven productivity suite. This shift marks a strategic pivot from its original focus on writing assistance to a broader platform designed to enhance productivity across various applications.
The Superhuman Vision: A Unified AI Experience
The new Superhuman suite, which includes Grammarly, Coda, Superhuman Mail, and the new AI assistant Superhuman Go, is available starting today for those with a paid Grammarly Pro subscription. Superhuman Go will be offered at no extra cost until February 1st, 2026. The rebrand comes after the acquisition of the AI email app Superhuman Mail in June and the collaborative workspace app Coda in December 2024. All these tools now operate under the Superhuman brand, with even the Grammarly logo being updated to reflect this new identity as a productivity AI brand.
Behind the Rebrand: A Broader Horizon
According to Noam Lovinsky, Chief Product Officer at Superhuman, the rebrand stems from a desire to offer an AI agent-powered work platform that works across all tabs in your browser. This platform is designed to offer contextual assistance, such as scheduling meetings based on your Google Calendar’s availability or ensuring accuracy in a pitch using information from a database. This vision expands beyond the original scope of Grammarly, offering users a more integrated and versatile toolset.
Superhuman Go: The New AI Assistant
The user interface of Superhuman Go will be familiar to Grammarly users, featuring a sidebar for suggestions and typing prompts, as well as access to various AI agents. Grammarly itself will continue as one of these AI agents. The Superhuman Agent Store will offer more tools for specific tasks or apps, including Google Workspace and Microsoft Outlook. The expanded capabilities of Superhuman Go are a key aspect of the transformation.
Superhuman is pivoting from its previous focus on writing to make Grammarly’s connections to other apps and web browsers its main selling point. Lovinsky notes that Superhuman Go is capable of helping with a broader range of tasks compared to the original Grammarly Go product, which was primarily focused on writing use cases. This demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing a more comprehensive productivity solution.
