Cocaine Trafficker Apprehended After Pursuit, Shooting in Lebanon
In a late-night operation on November 2, 2025, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces in Lebanon brought a suspected drug trafficker into custody. The arrest, which took place on the Al-Hazmiyeh – Baabda road, followed a dramatic pursuit and exchange of gunfire.
The Pursuit and Apprehension
Investigations by the Internal Security Forces’ regional gendarmerie unit, specifically the Mount Lebanon Investigation Detachment, led to the identification of a suspect. The individual, identified as R. S. (born 1985, Palestinian), was known to be involved in the promotion of cocaine. The suspect was also wanted on multiple judicial warrants.
Surveillance efforts pinpointed R. S. operating a motorcycle from the Bourj el-Barajneh camp towards the Mar Mikhael Church area and the Al-Hazmiyeh – Baabda road. As midnight approached, a police unit intercepted the suspect on a gray motorcycle. A pursuit ensued, during which R. S. fired a handgun at the officers. The officers responded, resulting in the suspect being shot in the thigh. Despite the injury, the police were able to apprehend R. S.
Evidence and Legal Proceedings
Upon arrest, authorities seized the handgun, the motorcycle, 14 plastic tablets containing cocaine, and a sum of money. The suspect was transported to a hospital for treatment under police guard. The seized items and the motorcycle were handed over to the relevant authorities for legal proceedings under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Internal Security Forces to combat drug trafficking and other criminal activities across Lebanon. The use of investigations and intensive investigations proved crucial in this case, leading to the arrest of a suspect involved in drug promotion and the seizure of illegal substances.
