The British Business Bank has injected €25 million into EQT Life Sciences’ EQT Health Economics 3 Fund, a significant move set to bolster commercial-stage medical technology and digital health companies. This commitment underscores the Bank’s strategic objective to support high-potential British businesses by investing in venture and growth capital funds, thereby encouraging further investment in UK-based enterprises.
The EQT HE3 fund is designed as a multi-stage life sciences vehicle, specifically targeting de-risked technologies. Its core mission is to enhance healthcare delivery, improve patient outcomes, and drive economic efficiency within the sector. Critically, this fund will extend support to companies beyond their initial product development phases, aiding them with crucial commercialization efforts, market expansion strategies, and manufacturing capabilities.
This isn’t the first collaboration between the British Business Bank and EQT Life Sciences; they previously co-invested in companies such as Phagenesis and Cyted Health. The latest commitment expands this partnership into a broader specialist fund, aiming to equip UK life sciences companies with vital access to capital, deep sector knowledge, and an extensive international network.
Established in 2014, the British Business Bank functions as the UK government’s economic development bank, playing a pivotal role in facilitating financing for smaller companies across the nation.
