Thailand-based law firm Kudun & Partners has significantly strengthened its legal capabilities by adding four new lawyers and establishing a dedicated antitrust and trade competition practice. This strategic expansion is a direct response to increasing client demand for specialized expertise in competition law, digital regulation, and technology compliance.
The firm has welcomed Nopparat Lalitkomon, formerly of Tilleke & Gibbins, as a partner to lead the technology, data, and innovation practice. Lalitkomon is joined by his team members Gvavalin Mahakunkitchareon and Sirirat Rinsiri. Their collective expertise spans technology law, data privacy, cybersecurity, digital business regulation, foreign direct investment, mergers and acquisitions, corporate structuring, and joint ventures.
Further bolstering the firm’s offerings, Piyapat Tubin, a former senior official from Thailand’s Office of Trade Competition Commission (OTCC), will head the new antitrust practice. Tubin brings extensive experience in investigating cartel conduct, abuse of market dominance, merger control, unfair trade practices, and digital platform regulation.
This expansion underscores the escalating importance of competition law within Thailand, particularly concerning mergers, acquisitions, and the rapidly evolving digital markets. The OTCC has been demonstrating increased regulatory guidance and enforcement activity, making specialized legal advice crucial for businesses operating in the region.
Kudun Sukhumananda, founding partner, highlighted that these appointments are integral to the firm’s strategy to enhance its capabilities in areas where clients face increasingly complex regulatory obligations. These include emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data protection, and digital platform transactions.
The establishment of a distinct antitrust practice also reflects the dynamic changes in Thailand’s enforcement landscape, where competition law is playing a more prominent role in corporate transactions, investment planning, and compliance programs. The new practice will provide comprehensive advisory services on merger control, competition compliance, regulatory investigations, and other antitrust matters.
These developments follow recent strategic moves by Kudun & Partners, including the integration of Manunya & Associates to enhance corporate and capital markets services, and the launch of a Vietnam-focused practice designed to support cross-border investment in Southeast Asia.
